Membership:
We welcome new members at any time during our Membership Year, which runs from September to June. If you join us after the January meeting, your Membership fee will be reduced to half the yearly fee plus the cost of the Guild pin. Guest are welcome to attend one meeting free of charge. Should you wish to attend subsequent meetings without beoming a member, you will be charged $5.00 per meeting. Any member who has not purchased or renewed membership by the November meeting will be considered a guest, subject to the $5.00 meeting charge, and will not receive Membership benefits (ie., library borrowing, workshop special rates, use of the pleater, etc.) A new Membership fee is $30.00 for the year (which inlcudes the pin) and a renewed Membership is $25.00.
Our Pin:
All new members will receive a custom designed "Grand Smockers" pin. These are great little keepsakes that may be pinned on your nametag, chatelaine, sewing basket, etc. Pins are available for $5.00.
Grand Smockers Cablegram:
Our very own newsletter, published bi-monthly, will keep you informed of upcoming events, new products, sharing of information, and helpful hints. Newsletters can be picked up at Guild meetings, in the Members Only section of this website, or via email.
Name Tags:
Members are encouraged to wear their nametag at each meeting/workshop. This helps our guests and new members "put a face to a name". As incentive, there is a 25 cent meeting "fine" for members who do not wear their nametag. Fines are used to help purchase small items that go into our Show and Share prize box. Nametag kits are available upon request for a nominal fee.
Show & Share:
We all need somewhere to show off our accomplishments...and what better forum than a friendly group of ladies who can truly appreciate the love, attention and time your handiwork involves! Each member who brnigs a completed article for Show & Share receives an entry for our monthly draw.
Stitch Out
These are additional gatherings where members can get help with a specific project or learn a new technique.
Smock ins:
Are held at members houses on the third Tuesday of each month. Those attending bring a bag lunch if staying for lunch. They usually run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and are informal gatherings where members can work on current projects and get advice or help if needed.
Library:
The Guild has an extensive resource of current needlework magazines, patterns, plates and books expressly available for members use.
